San Antonio DWI Defense Lawyer
Tylden Shaeffer is a San Antonio board certified criminal defense lawyer who has concentrated his law practice on criminal law for over the past fifteen years. Mr. Shaeffer grew up in San Antonio. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in international relations from Brown University and he earned his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 1990. He has been licensed to practice law in the State of Texas since 1990 by the Texas Supreme Court.
Mr. Shaeffer is a former federal law clerk for a Dallas Immigration Court Judge, and he has worked at several San Antonio law firms. Knowing that he wanted to devote his career to being a trial attorney, Mr. Shaeffer began working in the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office in January of 1991 soon after passing the Texas Bar Exam.
Mr. Shaeffer left the D.A.’s office as a first chair felony prosecutor—the highest rank a prosecutor can attain at the trial level. During his tenure as a prosecutor, Mr. Shaeffer tried over 100 jury trials at all levels of offenses, including several death penalty cases. He gained invaluable experience in every substantive area of the D.A.’s office, including DWI, misdemeanor offenses, felony offenses, white collar crime, family violence cases and juvenile law. Many of the sitting judges in Bexar County are judges Mr. Shaeffer either tried cases in front of or are former partners or associates of his from the District Attorney’s Office.
While an assistant criminal district attorney, Mr. Shaeffer applied for and was accepted into the prestigious trial advocacy training program at the National District Attorneys Association in Columbia, South Carolina.
Mr. Shaeffer left the D.A.’s office in January of 2000 to open his own law practice. He has handled a wide variety of misdemeanor, felony, federal and juvenile cases as a Defense Attorney. Moreover, he has represented individuals seeking to expunge or seal their criminal or juvenile records. He has attended many advanced continuing legal education courses the trial advocacy training program at the National District Attorneys Association in Columbia, South Carolina. He is a member of various criminal law defense organizations to ensure he that all of his clients receive the best, and most up to date, legal representation possible. Mr. Shaeffer is licensed to practice law in all state courts in Texas as well as in the federal courts of the Western District of Texas.
Mr. Shaeffer speaks Spanish and French, having successfully represented many individuals who do not speak English.
